EMERGENCY REQUEST

What to expect?

Periodontal disease or gum disease is a very common condition where the gum becomes swollen, sore, or infected. The main cause of periodontal disease is plaque, a sticky substance that contains bacteria, which forms in the process of eating and drinking. There are millions of bacteria exposed to our teeth every second. Some bacteria in plaque are harmless, but some are very harmful to the health of your gum. If you have gum disease, your gums may bleed while brushing your teeth and may cause bad breath. This stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis. If gingivitis is not treated in time, a condition called periodontitis can develop. This affects the tissues that support teeth and hold them in place. Untreated periodontitis causes the bone in your jaw to decay and small spaces to open up between the gum and teeth eventually causing the teeth to fall out.

Preventing and treating gum disease

Mild cases of gum disease can usually be treated by maintaining a good level of oral hygiene. You should also make sure you attend regular dental check-ups. A dentist can help you in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, even with a complex medical history. We offer a wide range of treatments, such as scaling and root cleaning or root surface debridement (in which damaged tissue is removed). Severe gum disease can be treated by surgical procedures. An appointment with our dentist or dental hygienist is required for an assessment.

How much does it cost ?

In order to provide an opinion or price related to your dental care, a dentist must understand all the factors that are influencing a patient’s health. A diagnosis of therapy can only be arrived at by performing a thorough examination of the mouth to identify and diagnose any dental issues or disease.

Can I get an estimate for treatment before going to the dentist ?

Oral health needs vary greatly between individuals and therefore, there is no average treatment. We encourage you to ask questions and by calling to do so, you will most likely prepare yourself before your dental health is severely compromised.
